Speaker: Bill Holt, Former Football Player/Coach

Bill Holt has dedicated over 50 years to the game of football, both as a player and a coach. His career began as a standout football player, and he went on to have a remarkable coaching journey that touched the lives of thousands of athletes.

Playing Career:

• Cradock High School (1960)

• Princess Anne High School (1961-1963)

• Chowan Jr. College (1969)

• Appalachian State University (1970-1971)

Coaching Career:
Bill Holt’s coaching career spans more than five decades, during which he has impacted over 4,000 players at various levels, including high school, college, and semi-pro football. Some highlights include:

• 14 High Schools across 3 states

• Elizabeth City State University

• Norfolk Neptunes (Semi-Pro)

• Tidewater Sharks (Semi-Pro)

Throughout his coaching career, Bill has been recognized for his outstanding leadership and dedication:

• Coach of the Year (1981, Virginia)

• Coach of the Year (1993, Florida)

Bill Holt has also made significant contributions to his community. For 25 years, he served as a fundraiser for the Charity Bowl, benefiting The Joy Fund.

Under his guidance, over 1,000 players went on to play at colleges and universities, and many have even advanced to the NFL, marking Bill’s legacy as a mentor and role model in the football world.

A lifelong passion for football, a commitment to developing young athletes, and a dedication to community make Bill Holt a respected figure in the sport’s history.
