Chesapeake Sports Club Scholarship Program

The Board of Directors of Chesapeake Sports Club authorizes and directs its Scholarship Committee to award a scholarship to a student from each Chesapeake public high school, Greenbrier Christian Academy, Atlantic Shores High School, and five at-large scholarships.  One of the 14 recipients will be selected to receive the Nathan T. Beck Scholarship, one will receive the Ted Beck Memorial Scholarship, and one will be recognized with the Robert G. “Buddy” Bagley Community Service Award. The amount for all scholarship awards is $2000 each.

The prerequisites for receiving a Chesapeake Sports Club Scholarship are as follows:

  • The student must have lettered in at least one VHSL Varsity sport.
  • The student must graduate with a “C” average or better.
  • Student must demonstrate school/community involvement and services.
  • For all general scholarships, a financial need must be demonstrated.
  • The student must attend an accredited college or university.
  • The student must be a Chesapeake resident.
  • Participation in a collegiate athletic team is not required.

Applications are available from the school’s scholarship designee.  Completed applications will be submitted to the school designee by the school’s established deadline.  Each of the schools listed above may submit no more than five nominees.  The school’s designee will then send the selected group of applications in one packet to the Chesapeake Sports Club by March 15.

The Scholarship Committee, in its sole discretion, makes award decisions.

The Robert G. “Buddy” Bagley Community Service Award (funded by the CSC) will be presented to the recipient who best exemplifies the late Mr. Bagley’s commitment to serving his community, participating in worthwhile endeavors, and giving of himself to benefit others.  The Nathan T. The Ted Beck Memorial Scholarship (funded by Mr. Beck) will be presented to a recipient whose overall development has been positively impacted by athletics.
